The Galkynysh gas field development demonstrates the scale and complexity of natural gas processing infrastructure in Turkmenistan. In chemical processing, corrosion resistance can determine the material of construction long before mechanical design begins. Acids, halides, oxidizing media and organic chemicals can create service conditions in which conventional stainless steels or nickel alloys are no longer sufficient.
